Foundations of Palliative Care
What is the program?
Foundations of Palliative Care is an online introductory course in Palliative Care by the team which has been successfully running the international Fellowship Program in Palliative Care. This is a brief version of the six month- Fellowship program which can be taken either as a stand-alone introductory course or as a primer before the Fellowship.
Aim
Aim of the course is to address practical issues in organizing palliative care services, particularly in low- and middle-income countries, with a problem-solving approach. The course will cover foundations, concepts, skills in organising and managing palliative care services and application of these in local situations faced by the participant.

Jointly by St Christopher’s Hospice (United Kingdom), Institute of Palliative Medicine -WHO Collaborating Centre for Community Participation in Palliative Care and Long Term Care ( India ), Sanjeevan Palliative Care Program (India), and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University ( Bangladesh).

Duration
24 hours (18 hours on Organization of services + 6 Hours of optional clinical sessions) over four days.
Dates
Tentative dates for the course are 12,13th ( Monday, Tuesday) and 19, 20th ( Monday, Tuesday) July 2021.
Each of the four days will have six hours of online sessions. Sessions on Day I, II and III will be on initiation and expansion of Palliative Care services; Day IV ( Optional ) will be on clinical topics

Certification
A certificate will be issues to those successfully completing the course. Certification will be jointly by the four partner organisations.
